The real costs of economic success

After an evening rehearsal and jam session with our good friend, Paul Rumbolt, in Calgary last night, I finally had a chance to listen to an amazing talk given by Palagummi Sainath at the University of Alberta's International Week in Edmonton, February, 2009. Sainath puts the rise of the Indian economy in perspective, reminding us that not all share in the newfound wealth; in fact, most people in the country are worse off than before the economic boom. All of this coupled with a wry and dangerous sense of humour! Check him out on the February 12 podcast from Deconstructing Dinner.
